Do you hate letter too?

Tags:

Letter. Not letter.

So, just moments before the deadline, I’m finishing a report. I’m in a bit of hurry, so I didn’t double check everything before printing. And just to find out what? I’ve just printed the bloody report on the wrong type of paper. I had it set on letter, but printed on A4, making it look horrible. And guess what. These were my last 21 sheets of (A4!) paper. So off to the store to get some paper and reprint the damn thing.

Who’s to blame? Google docs. Me and my classmate wrote the report in their word processor, I exported it to .doc and printed. I mean come on, Google already knows everything about me, including my report’s deadline (Yes, they’ve cached it). And I’m thinking they should already know that I live in Slovenia and that we’re using A4 here. No letters here, thank you. So why are they exporting this to the weird American format?

Why web accesibility is important?

Tags:

Just a quick teaser in the spirit of a report on web accessibility I’m doing. You’ll get the chance to read the full version soon.

What is web accesibility?
It’s making websites accessible for everyone, including the blind, the deaf, people with learning trouble etc.

Why should you care?
According to this website a research has been made back in 1999 in the good ol’ US of A. Looking at the numbers and throwing some basic math at them, this is what you get:
In 1999, about every 10th web-surfer in USA was having to face difficulties when reading websites. Every 10th! Say your website has a 1000 unique visits a day, that’s 100 people not being able to comprehend the content as you predicted.

Worried yet?
click, click, click, click, click.
